RIP Jim Halloran
July 3rd, 2007 · No Comments
Jim Halloran, the first person to hold a Chair in Mass Communication in Britain (at the University of Leicester), recently passed away age 80. An obituary can be found here. Some condolence messages can be found here.
His Demonstrations and Communication: A Case Study from 1970, co-authored by Philip Elliot and Graham Murdock, remains one of the most important critical studies of journalism and how the news represent voices of protest and dissent (i.e. poorly).
